We have a group of passionate teachers, with years of experience and extensive knowledge in their field.


  • Smita Thakrar

    Smita has been teaching yoga for 11 years and has been practising yoga for over 20 years. Her initial training was in India at the Sivananda Ashram in Kerela in 2001, and since then has attended further training and workshops in the UK and the US.

    Smita has studied yoga for Therapy and recently has been training in structural integration and anatomy with Gary Carter, learning about fascial connections and how we can allow gravity to connect and let our bodies create freedom in movement.

    Smita is also a Birthlight trained teacher for Pregnancy Yoga and Baby Yoga.


  • svava Sparey

    Svava is a fully qualified Iyengar yoga teacher with over 7 years teaching experience, living and holding regular Iyengar yoga classes in north London. The Iyengar yoga teacher training process is rigorous and regulated by the Iyengar Yoga Association UK. Svava spent five weeks of intensive study at the Ramamani Memorial Iyengar Yoga Institute in India in 2011 and gained her intermediate level teaching certificate in 2012.


  • Babita Bahal

    Babita was drawn to yoga over 10 years ago as an antidote to busy London lifestyle. Her interest is in the therapeutic benefits of yoga which arose following several years of severe back pain caused by a herniated disc. Yoga helped her regain full spinal mobility and inspired her to deepen her knowledge.
    Babita trained as a teacher with the British Wheel of Yoga. She teaches Hatha yoga for all abilities drawn on my own personal Iyengar Yoga practice encouraging precision and attention to detail.
    Babita also works for the British Wheel of Yoga, the national governing body for yoga in the UK


  • shanine collinson

    Shanine qualified as an Ashtanga/Hatha yoga Instructor with the Himalaya Yoga Valley School in India.

    Her style of teaching is a combination of the Primary Series Ashtanga Yoga infused with the more descriptive style of hatha to create an interesting dynamic flow.

    Shanine likes to deliver a fun but challenging class catering for all levels. Her natural warmth will make you feel at ease even for the total beginner


  • marios argiros

    Marios is a Senior Intermediate Level Iyengar Teacher who combines teaching yoga with his work as a classical musician. He trained at the Manchester and District Iyengar yoga institute and makes regular visits to India to study with the Iyengar family in Pune. He has also been inspired by the teaching of Jeanne Masien, Jawahar Bangera and Firooza Ali among others.

    Marios teaches a general class with us here at the studio, as well as a specific Yoga4Yoga Teachers class. With the benfits of precision through Iyengar yoga, Marios is able to undertake remedial work for those with injuries and chronic conditions. Since his car accident in 2009, Marios has experienced at first hand the power of yoga to heal and strengthen.


  • alistair whitlock

    Alistair Whitlock has been teaching and practicing Kundalini Yoga for a decade and is certified by the Kundalini Research Institute (KRI) as a Level 2 instructor. He has studied extensively under both Guru Kaur (Amritvela) and Karta Singh (Amritnam Sarovar). Prior to Yogi Bhajan’s passing in 2004, Alistair was given the spiritual name of Guru Dharam Singh.

    In addition to Kundalini Yoga, Alistair is a fully qualified and practising acupuncturist with an extensive understanding of the whole human being.


  • Astrid donati

    Astrid has worked as a Personal Trainer in one of the top health clubs for around 6 years when she also taught numerous classes such as Pilates, Body Conditioning, Spinning and Swiss Ball.

    Astrid career in the Fitness Industry has led to her focusing on Pilates and Gyrotonic. She has trained with Stott Pilates and completed the Pilates Matwork, Advanced Matwork and Injuries and Special Populations training courses. With a strong background in Personal training she now combine her knowledge of functional training with pilates. Paying particular attention posture, alignment and your core - Her classes are challenging, invigorating and a lot of fun.


  • Heidi vandenbroek

    Heidi has over 10 years of experience working in ftiness clubs, sport centres, private clubs and corporate clients. She is a fitness instructor with a wide range of exercise and nutritional experience.

    She focuses on reformer and matwork based pilates and dance fitness, along with specialisms in pre and postnatal pilates.
